Air Niugini Limited is the national airline for Papua New Guinea. The airline's unique name Nuigini comes from the country's native language and simply means New Guinea. The airline was founded in 1973 and soon after was established as the national air carrier. The Government of New Guinea holds a 60% share in the airline. Today the airline offers domestic and international flights. The airline is expanding their fleet over the coming years to include a new Boeing 787-8.
