Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is the main international airport of the Netherlands and situated about 6 miles south west of Amsterdam. Amsterdam Airport handles about 50 million passengers per annum, the majority of which fly within Europe, making it not only one of Europe’s largest airports but one of the world’s busiest. It comprises of five main runways and the airport is served by about 70 airlines and KLM Delta Air Lines is its hub in cooperation with KLM. The public can watch aircraft from the Panoramaterras, a rooftop, viewing platform, for free.

• Eating & Drinking: There are numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. Before check-in these include Burger King, Starbucks, Juggle Sandwich Bar, Grand Café Plaza and Food Village. After, passengers can find food outlets like Haagen Dazs, Irish Pub – Murphy, Heineken Bar, McDonalds, Shirasagi Sushi Bar and Sports Café.
• ATM: Banks with ATMs are located before and after check in. Bureau de change facilities are also available.
• WiFi: Wireless HotSpots are located throughout the airport, Internet centers are in Lounge 1, 3, 4 and at the Schiphol Plaza. 24 hour KPN Internet Centers with computer stations are in Lounge 1 and 2.
• Shopping: There are numerous shopping opportunities available before check in including America Today, Crocs, Expo, Gassan Plaza, H & M, Leonidas, Nike-store, Paolo Salotto Shoes and The Body Shop. After is duty-free.

• Airport Hotels: Mercure Schiphol Terminal Hotel (020-604-1339) is situated within the airport terminal. There are a number of hotels nearby with free shuttle transportation from around 6am to midnight. These include the Bastion Hotel Amsteram Airport Schiphol (023-562-3632), Courtyard Marriott Amsterdam Airport (023-556-9001), Crowne Plaza SPC (023-565-0000) and the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol Hotel (020-710-4000).
• Disabled Travelers: Wheelchairs are available at P1 and P2 car parks and the Schiphol Plaza. Disabled parking is available at P1, P2 and P3.
• Lounges: There is a Banking Lounge where passengers can relax, hold meetings, use the Internet or change currency. There is also a Babycare Lounge by Nutricia open from 6am to 10pm on Holland Boulevard between lounges 2 and 3 with a range of facilities.
• Parking: There are two lots available for short term parking, P1and P2, both of which are connected to the airport by covered walkways. The cost is $4.65 per hour, $30 per day for the first 3 days then $18 onwards. Long term parking is available in P3 which is found off the airport access road. A free shuttle operates 24 hours a day every 10 minutes. This costs about $60 up to 48 hours then $7 each extra day.
• Directions & Transportation: The airport can be reached using the highways A4 and A9. Bus services are available frequently for transportation to the airport. The train station is situated underneath the airport and the service to Amsterdam runs every 10-15 minutes and takes 15-20 minutes. One way first class is $7 and second class about $4.50. Tickets can be purchased at platform machines or counters in the Schiphol Plaza. Taxi ranks are situated outside Arrivals. The journey to Amsterdam takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately $50.
