The Auckland International Airport (AKL) or Auckland Airport serves as the gateway into New Zealand. It is New Zealands' busiest airport with over 13 million passengers each year and climbing. Located in Mangere, a western suburb of Manukau City just 13 miles south of Auckland, the airport is the center of internationally renowned Air New Zealand. With both domestic and international terminals and only a single runway, the airport is the fourth busiest in Australasia behind Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. There are also disabled parking spaces in front of the terminals and in the airport car parks. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.
• Lounges: There are two conference rooms on the top floor of the International Terminal and a further three rooms in the Air New Zealand section of the Domestic Terminal. Laptop computer connections are available in the reading/writing area. All international airlines provide VIP lounges.
• Parking: There is a range of parking available to suit any need. Quick pick-ups and drop off areas right outside both the International and Domestic Terminals are available with the first 10 minutes for free. Park & Ride offers secure long-term parking. • Directions & Transportation: From central Auckland, drivers should take the the southern motorway towards Manukau City until the Gillies Avenue exit and then follow the airport signs. An Airbus is available providing a service between the airport and the city center, while MAXX also offers bus connections to Auckland city center and other regional destinations. Taxi ranks are situated to the west of the International Terminal and in front of the Domestic Terminals. Shared-ride shuttle buses can be found departing from a shuttle rank outside the International Terminal.
