Berlin has always been a city of rebirth. Today's city is no exception. Berlin is full of new and international energy. It is a mecca for the world's creatives and is continually on the cutting edge of art and design. Berlin is known for its tolerance, lively nightlife, cafes, clubs, bars, museums, palaces and street art. It is more a collection of neighborhoods than a city with a single center. Since the wall came down it has drawn more and more internationally renowned 20th century architects and has new buildings from the likes of Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry, particularly around Potsdammer Platz and Mitte. These make the perfect accompaniment to its marvels from medieval times, most around Alexanderplatz, right through to the excellent examples and not so exciting ones built during GDR times. Kreuzberg, sometimes referred to as 'Little Istanbul' is not only Berlin's most international, but home to Daniel Liebskind's Jewish Museum. And there is also the Brandenburg Gate and other time held sights to behold.

To the north Germany has coasts along the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. White sandy beaches with resorts or places to be alone make locals keep returning summer after summer. Hamburg, Germany's most important international port, is full of chic shops, elegant hotels and great museums. Go south and find the Black Forest and Alps. Heidelberg has the most castle ruins and Frieburg is home to a magnificent late gothic cathedral. Munich is world renowned for Oktoberfest and is nestled in glorious landscapes with spectacular views perfect for hiking. Or stay in the middle and discover the French influenced Bonn, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Trier or Aachen.
