Croatia Airlines was founded in 1989 as Zagal-Zagreb Airlines. Today it is the country's largest airline and carries over 1.8 million passengers annually. In 1990, after the first democratic elections in Croatia, the company changed its name to the current Croatia Airlines. In 1991 the airline completed its first commercial scheduled flight from Zagreb to Split. In the following years, the company focused on expanding their fleet in order to respond to growing passenger demand. Today Croatia Airlines operates flights domestically, as well as throughout Europe including destinations such as London, Istanbul, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. Croatia Airlines is a proud regional member of the Star Alliance, giving passengers the opportunity to earn frequent flyer miles with other participating airlines. Frequent flyer miles earned through the airline's Miles&More program are redeemable towards other flights, upgrades and rental car and hotel offers.
