Much of the state is low-lying flat land however there is the renowned Everglades that take up a huge portion. This is a large area of subtropical wetlands that discharge a vast amount of water into Florida's Lake Okeechobee. For a bird enthusiast, this is the place to be. The Everglades is North America's most significant breeding ground for topical wading birds, its also the largest mangrove ecosystem in the western hemisphere with a large number of bird, fish, mammal and reptile species living within this nourishing environment.
