Hilo International Airport (ITO) is situated in Hilo, Hawaii. Hilo International Airport is one of the main airports on Hawaii Island and serves the majority of East Hawaii which encompasses the Hilo and Puna districts. The airport uses two airlines: go! Mokulele, which is operated by Mesa Airlines, and Hawauuan Airlines. Hilo International Airport deals with just over 1.5 million passengers a year and flies to Honolulu and Kahului. It consists of one terminal which was named after Brigadier General Albert Lyman who was the first Hawaiian native to become a US Army General. • Eating & Drinking: There are a limited number of food outlets. These include Cocktails which is open 11am to 7pm and a Restaurant which is open 5.30am to 7pm.
• ATM: An ATM can be found next to the Security Check Point.
• Shopping: The shops are located before security by the passenger lounge. These include WHSmith Gift Shop (8am – 8pm), Lin’s Lei Stand (7am-6pm), Airport Newsstand (6am – 8pm) and Ah Lan’s Lei Shop (8am – 6pm).
• Luggage: Carts are at the baggage claim and in Lobby 4 at a charge. Baggage claim is on the ground level. For lost luggage the office is on the second floor or call Securitas USA (808-934-5863/5898).
• Airport Hotels: There is no hotel at Hilo International Airport however there are a number within 5 miles of the airport. These include Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (808-935-9361), Hilo Seaside Hotel (808-935-0821), Hawaii Naniloa (808-969-333 and Hilo Bay Hotel (808-935-0861).
• Disabled Travelers: Facilities include an elevator and escalators, accessible parking, AEDs, toilets and wheelchairs on request. Passengers should contact their airline prior to flying.
• Lounges: The Hawaiian Air Premier Club is situated on the first floor in the departure lounge towards the northwest corner and is open to Premier Club Members.
• Parking: Parking is free for the initial 10 minutes then $1 for every half an hour with a daily maximum of $7 and a monthly rate of $70. For more information contact 808-969-6642. There is also off-site parking, most of which offer a shuttle or bus to and from the airport.
• Directions & Transportation: By car use Highway 11 (Hawaii Belt Road/Kanoelehua) then turn east onto Airport Road (Kekuanaoa Street). There is no public transportation to the airport - howver, taxis can be obtained from outside the airport and cost approximately $15 to Hilo city center.
