Come visit the capital of beautiful Missouri! Jefferson City offers a wide range of attractions - one of the most infamous is the State Penitentiary, decommissioned in 2004 and now open for public tours. This notorious prison held criminals such as Charles 'Pretty Boy' Floyd and James Earl Ray, the eventual assassin of Martin Luther King. Jefferson City is located in central Missouri in the Midwestern United States. The local airport, Jefferson City Memorial Airport does not have commercial service. Most visitors arrive through Columbia Regional Airport, which is twenty-five miles north of the city. Visitors to Jefferson City have the opportunity to view the Missouri State Capitol building, Governorﾒs Mansion, and to investigate the Lewis and Clark Trailhead Plaza. This is a great destination to explore the history of US settlement.

Not far from downtown Jefferson City is the Runge Conservative Nature Center. This Nature Center is a great place to take in Missouriﾒs natural beauty.
