Johannesburg International Airport (JNB) is located in Kempton Park near Johannesburg. It is the busiest airport in Africa and acts as a main gateway to South Africa. Johannesburg International Airport deals with about 28 million passengers a year. The airport is a hub for South African Airways which is South Africa’s biggest domestic and international airline. • Eating & Drinking: There are food outlets both before and after security. These include KFC, Café Nescafe, Wimpy, Fournos Bakery, Steers, Nandos and McGinty’s.
• ATM: ATMs are located in the international arrivals in the domestic terminal, level 1. Bureau de change is located in the International arrivals hall.
• WiFi: Access to wireless Internet is possible in the International Departures area for a charge. Internet access is possible in international departures and in the domestic terminal.
• Shopping: There are a large number of shops within Johannesburg International Airport. These include Accessorize, The Body Shop, Lacoste, Exclusive Books and Capi Photo Electronics. There is a Duty Free Mall in Terminal A.

• Airport Hotels: In Johannesburg International Airport there is a transit hotel. Opposite the airport is Airport Sun InterContinental Hotel (011-961-5400). Other hotels in close proximity to the airport are the Southern Sun Garden Court (011-392-1062) and the Southern Sun OR Tambo International Airport (011-975-1121). Most hotels in the area provide a shuttle bus to and from the airport. For assistance the Gauteng Tourism Authority Information Desk is located in the international arrivals area.
• Disabled Travelers: Facilities include elevators, ramps, parking spaces and free shuttle services. Passengers should contact their airline prior to flying for extra assistance.
• Lounges: After security on the Mezzanine level there is a Premier International Lounge which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The maximum stay is 3 hours and it is only open to ticketed passengers. There is a Bidair Services Airport Lounge in domestic and international departures which is open from 5am to 9pm.
• Parking: For short-term parking there are 5 main lots. Parkade 2 is the cheapest option and charges $1.30 for the first hour, $2 for up to 2 hours, $9.20 for up to 12 hours and $17.70 for a day. Shaded parking 1 and 2 costs $9.20 and $7.85 respectively. Long-term parking is available at the Super South Gate and there is a free shuttle which runs every 15 minutes. 24 hours cost $4.60.
• Directions & Transportation: By car the airport can be reached via the N3 Eastern Bypass or the R21 highway then turn off onto the R24 Airport Freeway. There are 5 bus routes which provide transportation to and from the airport. There is also a Gautrain rail service which runs between the airport and Sandton. Taxi ranks are located outside international arrivals. The journey to the city center takes from 30 to 40 minutes and costs between $30 and $40. Only taxis with a yellow light should be taken.
