London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is situated south of London and north of Crawley in West Sussex. London Gatwick Airport is the second biggest airport in London and second busiest airport in the United Kingdom dealing with over 32 million passengers per annum. It serves as a hub for British Airways, EasyJet, Virgin Atlantic, Flybe and Aer Lingus. The airport consists of two terminals, North and South, connected by an automated people mover track and boasts the busiest single-use runway in the world. • Eating & Drinking: There is a wide variety of food outlets throughout LGW, from fast food to fine dining. Names include Burger King, Costa Coffee, Frankie and Benny’s, Marks and Spencers, McDonald’s and Garfunkel’s.
• ATM: ATMs and Bureau de change can be found in both terminals in the arrivals and departure areas.
• WiFi: Wireless Internet is available throughout the airport. Internet booths are located in the arrival and departure areas of both terminals.
• Shopping: There is a large selection of shopping opportunities throughout the airport. Companies include Accessorize, Hugo Boss, Harrods, La Senza, Mango and Ted Baker. World Duty Free is located in both terminals.
• Luggage: Carts are located throughout the airport and require a £1, €1 or 25¢ coin deposit. For lost luggage contact 01293-502-014 if in the South Terminal or 01293-502-013 if in the North.
• Airport Hotels: There are three options available at the airport. Hilton London Gatwick (01293-518-080) is at the South Terminal, Sofitel London Gatwick (01293-518-080) is a 4 star hotel and is located at the North Terminal and YOTEL (0207-100-1100) is at the South Terminal and can be booked on an hourly basis. Close to the North Terminal is the PremierTravel Inn (0870-238-3305) and the Best Western Gatwick Moat House (0870-443-1671) is also in the vicinity.
• Disabled Travelers: Disabled toilets and elevators are located throughout the airport. Other facilities include telephones, parking spaces and wheelchairs on request.
• Lounges: In the North Terminal is the Aviance Lounge and Wentworth Lounge, both open 5am to 9.30pm, and in the South Terminal the No. 1 Gatwick Lounge, open 4am to 10pm, and Servisair Lingfield Lounge, open 5am to 10pm. All are open to ticketed passengers.
• Parking: Each terminal offers its own short-term parking lot. The first 15 minutes are free followed by $3.90 15 to 30 minutes, $6.30 up to an hour, $9.40 up to 2 hours, $23 for 9 to 12 hours. $33.60 is the daily maximum and subsequent daily charge. Long-term parking options are located in by both terminals and a shuttle is available, the journey being approximately 12 minutes. Long stay north and south charge $14.40 per day if not reserved in advance.
• Directions & Transportation: By car, London Gatwick Airport can be reached via the M23 exiting Junction 9 and the A23. The Gatwick Express provides direct transportation to the airport. It runs every 15 minutes and takes half an hour from central London. Other rail services include First Capital Connect, Southern and First Great Western. Most coach stops are by the South Terminal. There are also local bus services to surrounding towns. The official airport taxi is Checker Cars. The journey to central London takes about an hour and costs approximately $144.
