Malev Hungarian Airlines is the national airline of Hungary with its home airport in Budapest. It serves over 70 destinations worldwide with scheduled or charter flights. In 1954 the airline was founded as a joint Soviet and Hungarian venture. Six years after the foundation the airport in Budapest was reopened. At that time it was considered to be the most modern in the world. The airline became part of the aviation alliance oneworld in 2007. The route system of Malev Hungarian Airlines focuses mainly on Europe with limited Asian service. There were flights to America until the 90s and to Africa until 2008 which have subsequently been discontinued. As part of the oneworld agreement, codeshares exist with American Airlines and Delta, enabling travel to and from the US. The bonus program of Malev Hungarian Airlines is called Duna Club. Depending on the destination, the passenger receives points for his or her account. Once enough points are collected, they can be exchanged for a bonus ticket.
