Montana is located in the Rocky Mountains region of the country, and is often labeled Big Sky Country for its picturesque views. Arriving in Montana is easy with the airports in either Billings, the capital of Helena, or Missoula. Much of the attraction to Montana is due to its outdoors activities. Whitewater rafting, boating, swimming, and fly fishing are very enjoyable, whether you prefer the calmer waters in the Eastern portion of the state or the rougher rapids in the West. The mountains also provide opportunities for great skiing, mountain biking, climbing, horseback riding, off-road driving, and hiking. Many of the extreme winter sports take place in the numerous resort areas, including Big Mountain, Bear Paw, Lookout Pass, and Great Divide. Furthermore, the state is home to several skate parks for the warmer months. Yellowstone National Park is another big attraction in the state, where several interesting wildlife species can roam openly.

The Rocky Mountains divide the region up into the eastern and western portions. The eastern portion holds the flatter regions, with the famed arid prairies of the Old West, while the west portion of the region offers the wetter, mountainous area home to Glacier National Park. Montana borders North Dakota, where the isolation attracts nature enthusiasts with the lure of scenic landscapes and also old frontier day forts. Wyoming is south of Montana, and is home to most of Yellowstone National Park. These states show the grandeur of the countryﾒs authentic and rugged Wild West.
