Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) is Germany's second busiest airport, handling around 35 million passengers annually. Located in the state of Bavaria, to the northeast of the city of Munich (München in German), it is named after a prominent Bavarian political leader. Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport is a major hub for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners, which use Terminal 2, the newer of the two terminals. Some 70 carriers operate scheduled passenger services between Munich and locations around the globe. A recent survey has named Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport the second best airport in Europe.

• Eating & Drinking: A wide range of dining opportunities is offered in both terminals as well as in the Munich Airport Center (MAC), the building that connects them.
• ATM: Bureau de change for foreign currency and ATMs can be found in all terminals at Munich Airport.
• WiFi: There is no single public WiFi network at Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport. Providers include T-Mobile (Terminal 1 only), EUR 2/15 mins, and Vodafone (exclusive provider for Terminal 2), EUR 3.95/30 mins.
• Shopping: Duty free shops can be found in the departures areas of both terminals. A wide range of other shops can be found throughout the airport. Terminal 2 departures features luxury boutiques including Bulgari, Hermès and Ralph Lauren.

• Airport Hotels: The only hotel directly on site is the Kempinski Hotel Airport München (+49 89 9782-0). Other hotels in the vicinity will provide free transfers. They include: Sheraton München Airport Hotel (+49 89 92 72 20), Marriott Hotel München Airport (+49 81 61 96 60), Mövenpick Hotel München Airport (+49 811 88 80) and Holiday Inn Express Munich Airport (+49 8122 9588 0).
• Disabled Travelers: Munich Airport is designed to be wheelchair friendly, with all gates accessible by elevators. Disabled toilets are located throughout the airport.
• Lounges: There are member lounges belonging to Air France, British Airways and Emirates in Terminal 1. Terminal 1 also features two airport lounges - Atlantic and Europa - offering a range of amenities to customers of certain airlines or for a €24 fee. Lufthansa's Senator and Business lounges are located in Terminal 2.
• Parking: Short and long stay parking are available at each terminal. At Terminal 1, garages P1-P4 provide short stay, P5, P7, and P8 long stay car parking. P20 serves Terminal 2 and the Munich Airport Center, which links the terminals. Rates start at EUR 25 per day. Further from the terminal and accessible by shuttle buses and trains, P41 and P81 offer cheaper holiday parking for long stay customers.
• Directions & Transportation: Drivers from Munich should follow the A 9 and then the A 92 motorways toward Deggendorf, following signs to Flughafen München. The driving time from central Munich is approximately 40 minutes. Rail transportation to the airport from central Munich is provided commuter trains (S-Bahn), the lines S 1 and S 8 running every 10 minutes. Journey time to the central station, München Hauptbahnhof, is 45 minutes - the one-way fare is EUR 8.80. Taxi stands are available at both terminals, metered fares to central Munich are around EUR 60.
