Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), formerly known as Nassau International Airport, is named after the politician who led The Bahamas to independence in 1973. As the largest airport in The Bahamas, it serves as the main international gateway into the country. Of the 3 million passengers annually, more than half travel to and from the United States. A dedicated U.S departures terminal provides border preclearance facilities, allowing flights to be treated as domestic flights upon arrival in the US. Lynden Pindling International Airport is currently (2010) undergoing major development work to service up to 5 million passengers per year.

• Eating & Drinking: A limited range of dining options is offered at Nassau Airport, with currently only one cafeteria in each departure area.
• ATM: A branch of the Royal Bank of Canada in Terminal 1 offers exchange facilities. ATMs are located in throughout the airport, including the international arrivals and U.S. departures areas.
• WiFi: There is no WiFi network at Lynden Pindling International Airport, but public internet points are available at both terminals.
• Shopping: In addition to an airside duty-free shop, there are a few shops at the airport selling clothes, CDs and souvenirs, as well as a newsstand.
• Luggage: Baggage carts are provided free of charge in both terminals. There are no lockers or left luggage facilities. Lost property enquiries are handled by the Airport Authority Security Division (+1-242-377-1759, ext 2802).
• Airport Hotels: There are no hotels on site. The closest hotels are located at Cable Beach, some 3.5 miles from the airport. • Disabled Travelers: Lynden Pindling International Airport is fully accessible to disabled travelers, with elevators, ramps and adapted toilets. Travelers requiring assistance are nevertheless advised to contact their airline.
• Lounges: There are no airline lounges at Nassau Airport. The Graycliff Boutique and Divan provides a cigar lounge and a non-smoking area, with free access to Priority Pass members. WiFi is available in the lounge, which is located airside in the U.S. departures and is open daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm. • Parking: The airport has three parking lots: Domestic/international, U.S. and overflow. Charges are $1 for the first and $3 for each subsequent hour, $8 for one day, and $9 per day for longer stays up to a maximum weekly rate of $45. The overflow lot is used only when the others are full and operates at a flat rate of $5 per day or part thereof.
• Directions & Transportation: By road, head west on West Bay Street to Blake Road, which leads to JFK Drive. Take a right turn on JFK and the airport is about 2 miles on the left-hand side. The airport is well sign-posted from Nassau.There is no public transportation to the airport. Taxis charge a flat rate of $22 between Nassau Airport and Downtown, surcharges may apply. Car rental desks are located in the arrivals area.
