Furthermore, the Oregon Trail cuts through Nebraska and allows for history enthusiasts to get a glimpse of what early westward settlers saw. Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historic Park is a great place to visit for learning about ancient fossil life native to the area. Wine enthusiasts will be pleased to see that wineries are sprouting up again throughout the state, while once they had been destroyed in the dust bowl and drought of the 1930s.

Nebraska borders South Dakota to the north, a state which holds the wonders of the Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, and Mount Rushmore. Colorado is southwest of Nebraska, and outdoor enthusiasts will thoroughly enjoy the amount of hiking, skiing, and climbing available there. Denver is also a cultural hub for this region of the United States, and there are many great nightlife spots in the city. Wyoming borders Nebraska to the west, and is home to Yellowstone National Park.
