Oakland International Airport is located in California, just south of the city of Oakland’s business sector. Metropolitan Oakland International Airport, as it is also known, serves many destinations in the U.S. as well as Mexico. Southwest Airlines has a large presence in this airport, which served nearly 12 million passengers in 2008 and acts as a popular substitute for San Francisco International. With the completion of its expensive renovation in 2008, the airport has added more gates to the second of its two terminals, with more renovation set for its first terminal in the upcoming years.

• Shopping: For shopping, there are many places located in both terminals. A duty-free shop can be found in Terminal 1, post-security.

• Airport Hotels: There are several hotels located within only 2 miles of the airport, all of which provide courtesy shuttles to and from the airport. • Lounges: There are lounges available in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
• Parking: There is short-term parking available very close to the terminals through the Premier Lot, which costs 3$ per 30 minutes up to 5 hours, and then a maximum of $36 for the day. There is also the Daily P Lot, which costs only $2 for every half-hour in walking distance of the terminal. For extended parking, there is economy parking located near Terminal 1 with frequent shuttles for $16 per day.
• Directions & Transportation: By road from Hwy 880 North, take the 98th Avenue exit and turn left at the stoplight, and the airport is straight on. Taxis and rental cars are also available upon request, and the rental cars are located on Langley Street. AirBART shuttle buses offer transportation to the airport, and there are also rental car shuttles to take you between terminals and to the Rental Car Center.
