Reykjavík-Keflavík International Airport (KEF) is located west of Keflavik in Iceland and is the biggest airport in the country. It deals with about 1.6 million passengers per year and serves the Reykjavík region. Reykjavík-Keflavík International Airport acts as a hub for the airlines Icelandair and Iceland Express. The airport consists of one terminal and two runways. The terminal building is called Leifur Eiriksson Air Terminal after Leif Erikson, a Norse explorer who is considered to be the first European to discover North America about 500 years before Christopher Columbus. • Directions & Transportation: By car, from Reykjavík Reykjavík-Keflavík International Airport is clearly signposted. The Flybus is located outside the building and departs 35 to 40 minutes after each flight arrival. The journey to Reykjavik takes about 45 minutes. Passengers are advised to book in advance (562-1011). Taxis are located between the terminal building and parking garages.
