Thunder Bay International Airport (also known as Thunder Bay Airport: YQT), is an airport serving the Canadian city of Thunder Bay and the surrounding district. In 2007, 626,351 travelers used Thunder Bay International Airport, which ranks third in the Province of Ontario in terms of passenger traffic, behind Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier and Toronto Pearson. Thunder Bay International Airport operates a single terminal building, built in 1994. The leading carriers at Thunder Bay Airport are Air Canada Jazz and Bearskin Airlines, both of which connect Thunder Bay to several major Canadian cities.

  • Disabled Travelers: All three floors are connected by an elevator, which is located adjacent to Baggage Carousel 1. Restrooms for disabled travelers are located at each end of the terminal building on the main and second floors and in both departure lounges.
  • Lounges: A new Executive Center on the second floor of the terminal building offers business and telecommunications facilities. Access is available at a daily rate of $9. There are no airline lounges.
  • Parking: The parking lot is located in easy walking distance from the terminal building and offers 300 long-term and 100 short-term spaces. Short-term charges are CAN$ 0.50 for teach ten-minute period to a daily maximum of $39 (no overnight parking permitted). The long-term daily rate is $10.
  • Directions & Transportation: The Thunder Bay Expressway (Highway 61) connects Thunder Bay International Airport to downtown Thunder Bay and to the Trans-Canada Highway (11 / 17). Thunder Bay Transit bus #3 provides transportation to the airport. It runs every 30-40 minutes for most of the day, and the single fare is $2.50. Taxis are available for hire outside the arrivals hall, and shuttle bus services also operate to and from the airport.
